I’ve found an interesting trend in email etiquette. Some of my real estate customers read my emails, but don’t respond. I found this out quite by accident. Our new Emerald Coast Association of Realtors MLS system sends me a notice when someone opens a link that I email them. I imagine this is a default setting. It’s almost “too much” information, but I never bothered to turn off the setting, if it can be adjusted. What I am noticing is some customers will read an email, for example, let’s say I am updating them on competition to their listing, or telling them about a new Santa Rosa Beach Florida house for sale. I will get an “opened” email alert from our MLS system, but I don’t even get a “Thank you” or “Received” or anything from my customer. Mind you, we are on good terms, but I find it unusual. Maybe not responding to emails is considered “de rigueur” nowadays? Or, my second theory, I am a service provider, so there is no need to reply. On the other hand, I always respond to my emails, if for no other reason than to let the sender know it was received! Give me a try!
